Essays & Observations
The observations expressed here are incidental, occasional, and personal. They represent the particular thoughts of a particular person on a particular subject at a particular time. They are not necessarily concerned with books and the book business; inevitably other subjects will distract us; but whatever the subject, we hope that the ruminations you find here will be more like Andrew Marvell’s “green thought in a green shade” than T. S. Eliot’s “thoughts of a dry brain in a dry season.”
