The Vestal Lady on Brattle and Other Poems.

Cambridge, MA: Richard Brukenfeld, 1955. First edition of Corso’s first book, printed in an edition of 500 copies, of which approximately half were estimated to have been lost in the mail. The cost of the book was underwritten by friends of Corso’s at Harvard, where he was allowed to continue to audit courses as a non-matriculating student by Archibald MacLeish to whom he had shown his poems, and where the first of his poems were published in The Harvard Advocate. The book bears an introduction signed P. L. B., and is dedicated “For all my friends . . . my beautiful Cambridge friends.”. A hint of discoloration at the top of the front cover, otherwise a very fine copy. 8vo, original printed wrappers designed by Nick Cikovsky.
