GREEN, Henry.
Doting. A Novel.
London: Hogarth Press 1952. First edition of Green's last novel. Green stopped writing at the age of forty-seven because "I find it so exhausting now I simply can't do it any more." He lived another twenty-one years, increasingly eccentric and reclusive, refusing to leave his London house for the last seven years of his life. He died in 1973 at the age of sixty-eight. Small 8vo, blue-green cloth, dust jacket designed by Lynton Lamb. Endpapers lightly foxed, otherwise a very fine copy in jacket with the Book Society wraparound band.
